Wolly’s Wafflings Part 1 – From the eyes of a parent.

My son has been drug free for just short of two decades, a miracle for sure.

The majority of parents who can say the same have known the feelings of complete desperation and many other feelings associated with addiction be it drugs, alcohol etc.

Did I feel the above? Absolutely!

Was I angry, frightened, resentful…too right I was.

Have the memories of that period of our lives faded, yes more or less.

However, even though my son is a successful business and family man, I find myself still always on the alert.

It took me awhile to gain sufficient understanding of the disease of addiction. I have been cigarette free for 16 years and to this day I still, on the very, very odd occasion think of having a ciggie. Hopefully, I will never succumb to the temptation but as with all addictions, it never quite leaves you….tbc
